Voter Information

Town of Amherstburg will be using

Vote-by-Mail

method for the 2010 Municipal Election

The 2010 Municipal Election is Monday, October 25th (NEW FOR 2010).

Election Method - Method of Voting

The Town of Amherstburg will be using the alternative voting system - VOTE-BY-MAIL for the 2010 election.  Instead of travelling to a polling station on Election Day, the ballot box will be brought to your mail box. With Vote-by-Mail, voters can fill out their ballots in the privacy of their own home. Casting a vote is as easy as mailing a letter!

As of September 27, 2010, those eligible voters that appear on the Voters' List will receive a Voter Kit in the mail containing all of the materials required to place their vote. The voter simply follows the instructions in the kit, deposits the ballot in the mail using the postage paid response envelope, and the ballot will be delivered to Town Hall for tabulating on Election Day.

If you choose not to mail your vote, you may drop off your ballot at Town Hall during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) until October 25th at 8:00 p.m.  Ballots received after 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 2010 will not be counted.

PLEASE NOTE: There will not be any traditional polling stations in this election. Vote by Mail eliminates polling stations, advance polls and proxy voting.

Please see attached Amherstburg Votes Newsletter for information on Vote-by-Mail process.
