Day Camps

Label all items your child brings to camp, so they can easily be identified. Please bring the following: 

• Bathing suit, towel, and swim (Wednesdays or otherwise noted)
• Backpack with lunch, snacks, and drinks (refillable water bottle recommended)
• Sunscreen and bug spray
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Running shoes/closed toe shoes
• Hat and sunglasses
• Separate small bag for swim items
• Extra clothing in the event of accidents or mess
• Do not bring electronics, toys, money, trading cards, such as Pokeman, or valuables to camp

Allergies

All allergies should be identified on your child's day camp forms. This information will be visible for your child's camp leader.

Medications

Medications should be signed-in each morning with our staff. Medications should be signed-out and taken home at pick up time each evening by the parent/guardian.

Please send the medication in the prescribed container.

The Town prefers that all medications be administered at home before attending camp. However, if medication is brought to camp, it must be contained in the prescribed container with physician and dosage information and shall be administered by the participant. Our staff are not permitted to administer any medication to participants unless it is epinephrine (Epi-Pen) for an emergency case of anaphylaxis.

Is your child heading to camp this summer? Make sure they are up to date with their vaccines, and you have access to their records.

Amherstburg’s Recreation Services reserves the right to withdraw Campers from the Day Camp program if behaviour expectations are not met that are conducive to a safe and healthy camp environment. The Behaviour Contract applies not only to campers but to their caregivers, parents/guardians

Examples include:

·         Verbal or physical abuse against campers or staff                             

·         Stealing or any other illegal actions

·         Behaviour that causes a constant need for one-on-one care and leaves a staff member unable to supervise their group/class on a consistent basis

·         Constant disregard of staff direction/guidance

The Town of Amherstburg's Recreation Services Division takes pride in providing an inclusive programming experience. Every possible effort is made to ensure your child is given equal opportunities and accommodations where/when applicable. That being said, we cannot provide one-on-one care to campers. We do allow for the use of Family Respite and/or a social worker when attending camp. If your child requires assistance during programming, you will need to contact the Recreation Supervisor to discuss prior to the first day.

Campers will have the opportunity to explore our 149 acres of land at the Libro Centre. Before going outdoors, program leaders ensure that the temperature and weather is safe, that campers are dressed appropriately for the weather and that sunscreen has been applied.

Lunch takes place indoors every day; weather permitting we sometimes have lunch outdoors. Campers will engage in outdoor play and sporting activities each day. When outdoors, frequent water breaks and pauses for sunscreen re-application will take place.

Photographs may be taken for marketing purposes on our website and social media. Photos are only taken by authorized personnel.

If you do not wish for your child to be photographed, please indicate such at the time of registration as well as on your day camp forms. For children who have not been approved for photos, a note will be added to their profile.

Our supervision ratios below ensure safety of all participants. Often, these ratios are the basic minimum as we often provide additional staff for supervision.

• 4 to 5 years - 1 program leader to 10 participants
• 6 to 7 years - 1 program leader to 12 participants
• 8 to 12 years - 1 program leader to 15 participants

While in the pool there is a 1:8 ratio for all age groups in addition to lifeguard supervision. The 1:8 ratio is used on field trips for campers under the age of 10

A refund may be granted only if the Centre is notified in writing 48hrs in advance. Credits or refunds will not be issued for illness or last-minute changes to plans as staffing is scheduled based on expected daily ratios.

ePACT is a secure, online system used to collect and safely store participant information such as age, allergies, medical conditions, emergency contact information, and approved pick-up contacts. This information is digital and will be used by authorized staff to access important information.

We will no longer accept paper consent forms.

Upon registration in camp, the parent/guardian will be sent an invitation through email to enroll with ePACT. This is mandatory and must be completed prior to attending camp. No exceptions to this rule will be made. 

Parents/guardians can upload photos of their child and their approved pick-up contacts directly to ePACT.

Cost: There is an annual fee of $7 at the time of registration. This fee is subject to change.
